The Farmers’ Movement represents the solidarity of small-scale farmers around the world, who are working to provide a more sustainable and healthier food system for all. We Feed the World has worked closely with the following allies to ensure their struggles, but most importantly their successes, are heard and to give agroecology and those who practice it the platform they deserve in provide a new narrative to industrial farming methods.
FEM (Fundación Entre Mujeres)
A Fundación entre Mujeres was founded in 1995, leading feminist women from rural communities of Estelí, committed to the strategic gender and class interests of rural women. FEM promotes ideological, economic, political and organisational empowerment through formal and non-traditional education programs, sexual and reproductive rights, fights against violence, access to land and productive diversification under a sustainable way of life for adults and young people.
The Landworkers’ Alliance is a grassroots union of farmers, growers and land-based workers with a mission to improve the livelihoods of their members and create a better food system for everyone. They work for a future where farmers are able to work with dignity and earn a decent living, and people can access healthy, affordable food from local producers.
Brazil’s Landless Workers Movement, Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST) in Portuguese, is a mass social movement, formed by rural workers and by all those who want to fight for land reform and against injustice and social inequality in rural areas.
La Via Campesina
La Via Campesina is the international peasants movement consisting of 182 organisations which represents over 200,000,000 peasant farmers. They fight for food sovereignty, empowering women, protecting seed diversity, peasants rights, dignity for migrant workers and much more, all in aid of grassroots action to provide a healthy, sustainable and fair food system for all.
Zarraga Integrated Diversified Organic Farmers Association (ZIDOFA)
ZIDOFA is the Zarraga Integrated Diversified Organic Farmers Association, working to better the livelihoods of farmers in the Philippines and create a more sustainable food systems for all.
Zimbabwe Small Holder Organic Farmers' Forum (ZIMSOFF)
ZIMSOFF aims to create and nurture a dynamic alliance of Small holder Farmer Organizations, or SFOs, that promotes organic farming, processing and marketing, in partnership with PELUM Zimbabwe Service Provider Organizations or SPOs, to uplift the welfare of smallholder farmers in Zimbabwe through participatory ecological land use planning and management.
